Obituary of THREE SUNS – Pius

THREE SUNS – Pius lisitootskina, Piitohpikis, Anokistaki April 7, 1921 – March 28, 2011 Born at home on the Three Suns Ranch Pius was raised in our Siksika traditional lifestyle. He married in our traditional way to the late Margaret (nee Water Chief). His achievements as a founding member of the Al Club. Pius participated in the 1967 World Expo in Montreal, and the opening ceremonies at the 1988 Winter Olympics. He was an original Chicken Dancer, Blackfoot Style. He was also very active at the Calgary Stampede and the Siksika Handgame Club. He was also a jockey for his grandfather “Three Suns”. He taught all his family to believe in God. Our Holy Creator. Siksika often called upon him as a Spiritual Advisor for Leadership.His involvement with the Cursillo movement, Siksika Justice. One of the original eight Elders who helped with the Aiskapimohkiiks. He blessed the Siksika Land Claims Trail Riders with the name “Nasoowa”. Pius leaves a legacy of his children, Emma, Frank, Stanford (Karen), Michael (Joanne), Joyce, Alvin, Stanley (April) and Dean and traditional adopted children, Bruce Star Light, Louis Doctor, Larry Aldous, Bruce and Wanda Calf Robe. His only surviving and loving sister, Emily (Clarence), sister-in-law Myrtle Good Eagle, daughter-in-law Priscilla Three Suns, along with five generations. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, his father “Eagle Rib”, raised by Maxim Three Suns, his mother Mary (Tried to Fly), children: Henry, Rosaline, Donnie, Albertine, grandchildren: Aaron, Sheldon, Tanelle and Jeffrey and along with his special auntie, Payotapoyaki (Margaret Bad Boy)., including his late siblings, sisters Julia, Alice and Margaret Joan, Emma and Mary Running Rabbit; brothers George Corn, Maxim, Mike, Windsor and two baby brothers and son-in-law Harold Wright. His extended family consists of the Three Suns/Eagle Rib Clan (Pius was the only child of Eagle Rib), Yellow Sun, Yellow Horse, Sleigh, Scalp Lock, Yellow Old Woman, Running Rabbit, White Elk, Big Snake, Poor Eagle, Many Bears, Good Eagle, Wright, Black Riders, Red Crow, Hairy Bull, Wolf Leg, Little chief, Turning Robe, Eagle Speaker, Little Plume, Good Dagger, Day Rider, English, Calf Robe, Doore and Stimson families. Pius will be missed by all his nephews and nieces; he was a very special uncle and father figure to the Three Suns family. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Pius Three Suns, Siksika Nation on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Siksika Nation, AB on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Chicago Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
