Obituary of BENNER – Shirley Eileen

November 7, 1933 – March 21, 2011 At the age of 77, after five weeks in ICU following heart surgery, Shirley died as she lived, surrounded by those she loved. She was born in Vancouver, BC, grew up in White Rock and loved the sea. Once she completed teachers’ training, her adventurous spirit shone through when she moved to Dawson Creek, BC. There she met the love of her life and she and Frank were married August 8, 1959. They enjoyed fifty-one years together. Her life’s work was to serve God and raise her children to know Him. Her creativity was obvious – piano playing, sewing, card making, poetry – and enjoyed by many. Nothing gave Shirley more pleasure than spending time with her family and seeing them enjoying each other. Shirley will be greatly missed by her husband Frank; children, Ned (Suzanne), Drew (Jacelyn) and Janice (Edgar) Yajure and grandchildren, Luke, Sam, Mikayla, Aiden, Reid, Elena, Mateo and Elias. Memorial Services will be held at Bonavista Evangelical Missionary Church (1509 Lake Ontario Drive S.E.) on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
