Obituary of BUSHFIELD – Mildred
January 18, 1933 – March 21, 2011
Mildred Bushfield, beloved wife of Archie Bushfield of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the age of 78 years.
Although she was raised a ‘city girl’, she met and married Archie in 1950 and loved being a farm wife. She was a talented homemaker and excellent cook, making wonderful hot cross buns and Danish pastries. Also a seamstress, Millie made many of Archie’s shirts and taught Lorraine how to sew. She was an enthusiastic gardener, growing vegetables for her family and canning. She took great pleasure in her grandchildren. Millie loved animals, especially cats- a passion which she passed on to her children. Later on, Julie the poodle joined the family.
Mildred was a Brown Owl for the Cub Scouts, and was also active with Girl Guides after the boys grew up. She achieved her Red Cross Swim Instructors certification, and taught lessons at Foothills Pool for the City of Calgary. Millie was also an entrepreneur, and owned ‘Millie’s Miniatures’, selling doll houses. She enjoyed volunteering at seniors residences delivering books.
Millie is lovingly remembered by her husband Archie; children Lorraine, Andy, John, Rod (Carmen); grandchildren Heather, Brad, Ron, Trevor, Tyler, and Claire; and her sisters Lucille, Helen, and Margaret. She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers John and Doug.
A private family service will be held. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
In living memory of Mildred Bushfield, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
