Obituary of COOPER– Donald Allan
December 15, 1939 – March 17, 2011
Donald Cooper beloved husband of Jeanette, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the age of 71 years.
Don was born in Saltcoats, SK on December 15, 1939. He left the family farm at eighteen and came to Calgary where he met and married Jeanette in 1959. Don worked for AGT then Telus until he retired at age 52 to spend much of his time at ‘the lake’ in BC that he loved so much. Always interested in radios, transistors and how things work Dad was one of the first ‘Geeks’ when it came to technology and computers and was a pioneer of his generation. He spent many hours ‘tinkering’ in the basement, garage, the shop, and at the lake and there was no limit to his imagination and ambition in his hobbies.
Don is lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty one years, Jeanette; children; Brian (Ardeth) Cooper, Shelley Cooper, Ian Cooper and Cheryl (Kevin) Mullen, and four grandchildren; Meaghan, Davis, Kyle, and Kendra. He is also survived by his brother Glen (Sandra) Cooper and sister Muriel (Tom) Hayden of Yorkton, SK as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
