Obituary of PRINTZ – Violet Vera

October 10, 1934 – March 15, 2011 Violet Printz of Calgary, beloved wife of Wilbert Printz, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the age of 76 years. Violet is survived by her loving husband Wil; her four children, Jeff (Mary), Tom (Barbara), Jay (Lisa), and Brian; her grandchildren, Nathan, Jocelyn, Tara (Scott Bauer), Mark, Brett, Isabelle, Kiara, and Scarlet; her sister Mary Elizabeth Gray; her sisters-in-law Olive Breadon and Mary Ann Breadon; and her brother-in-law Allan Young. She was predeceased by her father John Breadon, her mother Sarah (nee Finlay), her siblings William Breadon, Jane Parson (Harold), Trudy James (Griff), Florence Henry (Garnet), Emily Young, John Breadon, and many other loved ones. Violet grew up on a farm near Pickardville, Alberta. She started her career with the Bank of Montreal in Westlock before moving to Edmonton where she met her beloved husband of fifty-two years. Wilbert and Violet settled in Calgary where they raised their family. Violet owned and managed Frontier Fruit & Nut, Market Mall and later resumed her banking career with the TD Bank. Violet cherished and valued family time. Her greatest joys came from family gatherings, visiting with loved ones over a pot of tea, flower-gardening, baking, travelling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Violet was a devout Christian. Her commitment to her Lord and Saviour and her church included involvement in bible study and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Violet was admired by those around her for the unbelievable strength, courage, and determination with which she faced her illness. She will be remembered for her remarkable kindness, her generosity, and her selfless devotion to her family, friends, and her Saviour. The Printz family wishes to extend special thanks to the many wonderful and compassionate health care workers who touched Violet’s life especially the Doctors, nurses, and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the McCaig Tower Unit 54, and Alberta Health Services – Home Care. Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church (3104 – 34th Avenue N.W.) on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family following the Graveside Service at Foothills Lutheran Church. Condolences may be made through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
