Obituary of GRIFFITHS – Joan Isabella

Joan Isabella Griffiths was a true Calgarian. She was born on June 30, 1932. Her early schooling included Sunalta Cottage, Sunalta School and Central Collegiate Institute (Central). From an early age she had the urge to travel and see the world. This wish was fulfilled when she met and married the love of her life, Reginald Edward Griffiths. Together they traveled around the world not once but three times. North America, Europe, Middle East, Far East, India, Australia, Japan and China were among her favourites. She forged close, long-lasting friendships throughout the world, especially in Scotland, the Netherlands and UAE. In later years she frequently regaled her close friends with tales of her adventures. She followed with relish the political scene, both at home and abroad. An impeccable hostess, a lover of animals, a passionate gardener, her eye for design, both interior and exterior, was legendary. She passed peacefully on the evening of March 12, 2011 at Rockyview General Hospital. At Joan’s request, there will be no service.
