Obituary of WESTMAN– Judith Colette

July 8, 1960 – March 11, 2011 With her family by her side, Judy passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Chinook Hospice. Judy waged a courageous battle with breast cancer for more than five years and, although the cancer took her body, her beautiful spirit remains with us. Judy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of twenty five years, Don and her two daughters, Amy and Melanie. She will be deeply missed by her three sisters, Bev, Barb, Joyce and brother Jeff as well as her parents, Ed Oman and Adele Ericson and Don’s parents, Jim and Midge Westman. Judy’s impact in this world was far-reaching, and as such, her many friends, co-workers, and extended family members are grieving her loss alongside her immediate family. Judy was born July 8, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois. She attended school in Calgary, graduating from William Aberhart High School. She graduated from Covenant Bible College and then received her BScOT fro the University of Alberta. She returned to Calgary where she touched the lives of many children as she worked as an Occupational Therapist. Classrooms lit up when Judy was in the house, and maybe even became a little noisy and unruly. She instantly fell in love with every child she met and no more so than her gorgeous daughters. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother. Judy loved that she triumphed long enough to celebrate twenty five years of love with Don. Together they built and shared a life of joy, love, laughter, music and hospitality. Judy was a party waiting to happen and if a celebration needed a home they were first in line. Judy lived in a real and honest relationship with God that she shared with all in a gracious and welcoming way. She and Don worshipped with their musical talents. Judy is lifted up by angels and surrounded by music so she can dance forever in the presence of her Lord. Funeral Services will be held at Westside Kings Church (3939 69 Street S.W. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
