Obituary of MacDONALD– Jean

May 25, 1925 – March 7, 2011 Jean MacDonald of Calgary passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Jean is survived by a son Laurie MacDonald; two daughters and a son-in-law, Faye-Ann MacDonald, Catherine and Bob Stefko and George Moss; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Duncan MacDonald; a son Don MacDonald, a daughter Lee Moss, and a daughter-in-law Kay-Lynne MacDonald. Jean was very much a family person taking great joy in family dinners, lunches with the grand and great-grandchildren, and trips to visit relatives and friends. She was active in the Catholic Women’s League as well as Monahan’s 55. She enjoyed many, many bridge and other card games with long-time friends that she considered family. Jean was very active in the Calgary Square Dance community. She danced with several different clubs and in many Stampede events over the years. Dancing in the Calgary Olympic Opening Ceremonies in 1988 was a proud highlight of her life. Jean touched a lot of lives and will be sadly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90th Avenue S.E.) on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90th Avenue S.E.) on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
