Obituary of RUNNER – Rena Pearl

April 2, 1963 – March 7, 2011 Rena Pearl Runner (Kiitokiaaki), was called home peacefully by our creator on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the age of 47 years. Pearl graduated from high school in Strathmore and obtained her Business Administration Diploma from Old Sun Community College/ Mount Royal and her degree from the University of Calgary. She was presently enrolled at Stratford Career Institute and managed the school bus operations for her mother. She grew up on a farm/ ranch and enjoyed riding horses; Pearl lived life to the fullest and excelled in many sports such as cross country, track and field, hockey, curling, fastball, broomball, basketball and cultural activities. She will be remembered for her sense of humour and being a kind, humble, encouraging, kind-hearted and compassionate person. Pearl is survived by her sons Wayne and Cory, her mother Rosella Ayoungman, sisters Lenora (Elroy) Rabbit Carrier, Nora (Edward) Smith, brothers Brian Ayoungman and Floyd (Krista) Dixon; nieces and nephews James (Cee-Jay), Nicole, Brian Jr., Paul, Taylor, Randy, Strater, Terrance, Edward Jr., Royce, Graci, Alexi, Shelby, Matthew, Alexander, and great niece Amina. She is also survived by her grandmothers Nora Ayoungman Sr., Violet Crowchild, aunts and uncles Matthew (Georgina), Elaine (Rod) Clifton, Vivian (Phil) Beaumont, Angeline, Louise, Lorraine, Ted (Lucy), Tina, Margaret Dixon, Dorothy (Ted) Ouellette, Violet (Gerald) Meguinis, Patricia (Jerry) Simon, Tom (Beverly) Runner and Steve (Gloria) Runner. As well as numerous relatives from the Siksika Nation, Tsuu T’ina Nation, Blood Reserve, Nakoda Nation and Montana USA. Pearl was predeceased by her grandparents Rev. Arthur Ayoungman Sr., George and Rose Runner; father Floyd Runner, stepfather Brian Solway and uncles Randy, Arthur Jr. and Jonathan Ayoungman; Don Dixon, Roger Runner, Joe Potts; cousins Cary Runner and Sounder Runner. Wake Services will be held at Siksika Nation Memorial Arbour on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Siksika Nation Memorial Arbour on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Canon Stockton Cemetery.
