Obituary of CLARK – Marion Sophia

June 15, 1921 – March 5, 2011 We are sad to announce the passing of Marion Clark on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Southwood Care Center at the age of 89 years. Marion who was born on the 15th of June 1921 in Islay, AB, lived a long and full life. Marion spent her growing up years on a farm at Tolland, AB, and moved to Edmonton at the age of eighteen to attend Normal School. She taught at several schools in rural Alberta, until going back to school at the University of Alberta, where she received a Bachelor of Commerce degree. She married Burton Clark in 1957, at which time they moved to Calgary, where she raised her family and taught school. In 1975, she and her husband began Clarks’ Art and Drafting Supplies which they ran until retirement. Her Christian faith was always central to her life. She was a member of Northmount Baptist, and then First Baptist Church in Calgary for over fifty years. Marion is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Florence McQuid of Vermillion; her sons, Brian (Grace), Stuart (Cindy) and Cameron; grandchildren, Callie (Essam) and Elizabeth and their mother Skye, Joy, Neil, Jamel and Sharllette all of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Burton in 2000. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Northmount Baptist Church (451 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
