Obituary of SHRIEVES – Bryan Douglas Shooter
May 1, 1947 – February 21, 2011
Bryan Douglas Shrieves, beloved husband of Vicky of Calgary, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the age of 63 years.
Bryan was born in Nelson, B.C. to parents, Douglas and Marjorie Shrieves. He was raised in Kimberley B.C. and after his graduation, attended Mount Royal College and later received a degree in Finance from Washington State University. He married his best friend and love, Vicky; they shared their life together for forty-two years and during that time raised four beautiful daughters and inherited four wonderful sons, Tara (Scott), Kelley (Tom), Julie (Fardeen) and Amanda (Jeremy). Following thereafter came six amazing grandchildren, Caitlin, Brianna, Donavan, Logan, Sierra and Jacob. Bryan started his career in the oil business where he met his lifelong friend, Bill Holmes. He then went on to practice real estate for many years before transferring into the car industry. Along his journey in life he took the time to share his light and love with everyone, no matter what age. Bryan was inspirational to many and developed many close unforgettable friendships. In the later part of Bryan’s life he discovered his passion for painting and for the past ten years, spent many hours creating masterpieces in his garage studio, while sharing with his neighbours and friends.
Bryan is survived by his step mother, Elizabeth Shrieves, brother, James McPhail, and sisters, Carol McPhail and Sherry Adams. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Michelle Lyon, Ryan Barnhardt, Brenna Varley, Browyn Busby, Kris McPhail, Allison McPhail, and numerous cousins, including his close cousin and beloved friend, Richard Busse.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Douglas and Marjorie Shrieves; brother, Randy McPhail, and his adored sister, Linda Barnhardt.
Bryan will be dearly missed for his quick laughter, sharp wit, and inspirational messages that he shared freely. “Each journey is a work of Art” and “Love is a canvas furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination” –Voltaire. A shining light has been lost here on Earth but a brighter light will now shine with Spirit.
