Obituary of SAMUEL – June Patricia

March 14, 1959 – February 19, 2011 June Patricia Samuel of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the age of 51 years. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, June moved to Canada in 1986. She was well known for her kindness and her loving compassion for others. June was a loyal, sincere, smart and giving person. She had a passion for life and was a loving mother and faithful friend. Caring and selfless, June was always putting others before herself. She loved to laugh and brought out the best in those around her. Beautiful inside and out, June had a strong, determined, courageous and supportive nature. She would joke that she should have been British as Coronation Street, EastEnders, Pride and Prejudice were some of her favourite shows. June enjoyed all types of music and loved to sing along. She believed strongly in equality and in being fair. June believed in forgiveness and in giving second chances. She believed in others. June was spiritual and grounded. She loved walking and being outdoors. June was a fighter; someone who would never give up. She will always be loved by all. June is survived by her sons, Kwesi Samuel and Shakiyl Payne; life long partner Glen Payne; parents Joseph and Juanita Samuel; siblings, Lloyd (Salim) Hernandez, Joseph Hernandez, Daphne Hernandez, Theresa (Gloria) Samuel, Trevor Samuel, Lucille (Brenda) Chinnia and Janet Samuel; niece, Nicole Price and her husband Michael Bertocchi and their son Ethan Price; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. June was predeceased by her son Sulaiman Payne. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
