Obituary of SCHWINGHAMER – Ann
March 31, 1913 – February 18, 2011
Ann Schwinghamer, wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Foothills Hospital with her daughter Myrna at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Frank (Francis). She is survived by her loving children, daughter Inez and husband George, Myrna and partner Ron, son Gordon and wife Jane. She was the proud grandmother of four wonderful grandchildren, Michelle, Heather, Samantha and Nick and one beautiful great grandson Rowan.
Ann’s life took many unexpected turns, travelling from Germany to Bruno, Saskatchewan in 1948, from Bruno she moved to Three Hills then Calgary then Golden to finally retire in Kelowna, BC. She made many winter sojourns to Scottsdale, Arizona where she was surrounded by countless friends and relatives. She was able to continue the yearly trips well into her 90s. She also loved her annual trips to Stowe, Vermont every summer and for Christmas, visiting with her daughter Inez and son-in-law George.
She was the consummate matriarch. She was a determined, resourceful, hardworking woman, and listed among her many accomplishments would be homemaker, loving mother, successful hotelier and restauranteur. She was a huge hockey fan, loved the mountains, adored flowers, ABBA and the bagpipes, and her faithful cat Missy. She will be deeply missed by her family and dear friends and fellow residents and staff at the Fountains of Mission, and especially her favorite caregiver and friend Clara.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
