Obituary of STAMBENE – Lucia

May 14, 1936 – February 16, 2011 With heartfelt sorrow the family announces that Lucia Stambene, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousins, & friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Lucia married her love, Pietro, on April 12, 1953 in San Giovanni In Fiore, Consenza, Italy. They immigrated to Canada in June 1954 to begin their new life with their family. Lucia was passionate about her family, her faith, and devoted her whole life to both. She loved flowers, gardening, Italian music, cooking, dancing, travelling, and playing games. Her biggest passion was her family. She will be deeply missed by everyone. Lucia is survived by her loving sisters, Caterina (Giovanni) Marasco of Calgary, and Rosina Bartolillo of Italy; her six devoted children, Joe (Angela), Andy (Jackie), Angelo (Dana), Sam (Nancy), Anna (Tony), and Peter (Sarah); twelve grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother Anna Maria Iaconis; her father Andrea Alessio; husband Pietro; and brother Domenic Alessio;. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
