Obituary of TOGSTAD – Lucille Helen

March 13, 1918 – February 16, 2011 Lucille (Teale) Togstad passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the age of 92 years. Teale was born in Calgary, and grew up in a large and active family. In 1937, she graduated from Normal School and began her teaching career. She taught in a number of rural one-room schools before coming to teach at Scotia School, boarding at Deep Dale Ranch, where she met Ted, her future husband. They were married on July 14, 1948. Teale continued her teaching career, retiring in 1973. After retiring, Teale enjoyed exploring the world with Ted. They traveled extensively, visiting countries and locales on every continent except Antarctica. Teale enjoyed sports, and was a keen competitor. She was very creative and an accomplished painter. Teale enjoyed socializing and took special pleasure visiting with friends and family. She had a positive outlook, and always made the best of things. She had amazing organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and enjoyed keeping busy. She was a life-long learner, and a great believer in always striving to achieve your best. She was especially proud of her family and their accomplishments. Teale is survived by her children Frank (Jean) Togstad of Calgary, and Laura (Doug) Baxter of Pine Lake, four grandsons Nathan Baxter, Jacob, Lucas and Micah Togstad, one granddaughter Anne Baxter, and two sisters Ethel Konschuh of Red Deer and Lois Sexton of Oregon. She was predeceased by her husband Ted, parents Dunham and Emma James, her brothers Russell (Buster), Charlie, Bill and Gordon James, and sisters Jeanette Lunt, and Edie English. Funeral Services will be held at Crossfield United Church (1005 Ross Street) on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Crossfield Cemetery.
