Obituary of COSTELLA – Dwaine William

September 7, 1944 – February 9, 2011 Dwaine Costella, beloved husband of Joan Costella of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 66 years. Dwaine had a deep appreciation of life and always had a positive, cheery attitude. He had many wonderful friends through his years at Alberta Wheat Pool and Conoco, and playing on up to three different softball teams right up to his last summer. Dwaine liked to stay busy and active and did so for as long as he could. He and Joan loved their garden and would spend long hours working in it, then relaxing on the deck or the yard swing, enjoying a glass of wine. Dwaine and Joan were loyal Hitmen fans and held season tickets for many years. Dwaine and Joan travelled to Victoria or Banff a few times each year with Joan’s sister Margaret. They’d enjoy walking, good meals and just enjoying their retirement. Dwaine will be warmly remembered by all who knew him and he will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Joan (nee Fraser); sons Todd (Deanna) and Murray (Shannon); his brother Paul (Gail); two beloved granddaughters, Amelia and Sadie; nephew Keegan and niece Larissa. Dwaine is also survived by his mother-in-law Elda Fraser and sister-in-law Margaret Fraser. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Lucille.
