Obituary of STRANG – Dorothy

December 7 , 1920 – February 8, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful, loving and gracious mother. Mom was born in Champion, Alta. in 1920, one of ten children to Peter and Bertha Daub. Grew up in Champion and Mossleigh were she finished grade 12. Moved to Calgary in 1939, the year the war broke out. Took a business course and worked at #11 Equipment Depot during the war. She then worked for the Provincial Dept. of Agriculture until she met and married her husband Murray in 1952. After raising her family she worked at Woodward’s in Chinook Centre and until recently, Dorothy could be found having coffee with her many friends and walking that same mall. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Murray in 1983. She is survived by her three loving children, Janice Barton, Jackie LaChance (Ray) and Murray Strang (Terry); her four grandchildren, Craig Barton, Kimberly Barton (Berk), Patricia and Tyler Strang; and two great grandchildren, Mishayla and Matthew Flett. Dorothy is also survived by two sisters, Anna Maisey and Lucy Malmberg, both of High River, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including cousin Sue. Mom was blessed with great health all her life until recently and she showed tremendous courage through her illness. She always had a smile for her many friends and family who came to visit, as well for the nurses and caregivers at the Chinook Hospice. We are so grateful to have shared the wonderful memories from mom’s 90th Birthday Celebration this past December, attended by many of her family and friends. The family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness, support and prayers during this difficult time. We request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made on behalf of Dorothy Strang to the Chinook Hospice (403-258-0040).
