Obituary of MAXWELL-MUIR – Peter Vary

1930 – 2011 Peter Vary Maxwell-Muir passed away in Calgary on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Peter was born on May 5, 1930 in Vancouver, B.C. Peter obtained his B.A. Western Washington College of Education in June 1953 St. Martin’s College, WA and his BEd. University of Calgary 1969. Peter played for the Calgary Stampeders Football Club from 1953 to 1956. He enjoyed being a Hospitality Representative for Molsons and a teacher at St. Mary’s High School. Peter also became a Consultant for Alberta Advanced Education and an Instructor in Business Education at S.A.I.T. An avid golfer and long time member of the Calgary Elks Golf Club, Peter enjoyed dancing and worked as a cruise host in his retirement. Peter is survived by his uncle Hugh Main, brother Rodney Maxwell-Muir (Sue), sister Bonnie Banks (Keith); children, Valorie Selland (Alan Sopczak), Denise Collins (Glenn), Glen Selland (Colleen), Greg Maxwell-Muir (Leann), Roderic Muir (Melissa); grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Hannah, Zachary, Kenneth, Corey, Tucker, Penelope, Sydney, Jared, Scott, and great grandchildren, Skyler, Vaeda and Finley. Peter was predeceased by his wife Elsie. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
