Obituary of DANCER – Clara

March 25, 1935 – January 26, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clara Dancer (nee McKenzie) of Calgary, at the age of 75 years. She is survived by her loving husband Ron of thirty-nine years; her step-sons, Brent Dancer (Gayle) and Blair Dancer (Michele); her step-daughter Carole Yorke (Derek); her grandchildren, Teresa Hunt (Graham), Justin and Alison Yorke; her sisters, Grace Haiduga (Joe) and Leona Longden (Bert); her nieces, Linda Longden (Frank), Judy Longden (Jason Grant), Ruth Schnell (Harold) and JoAnne Letkeman (Steven); and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Walter, Robert and Morris; and her parents Clark and Minnie McKenzie. Clara was born in Fernie, BC but spent most of her life in Calgary where she worked for thirty-four years at AGT and ended her career as Manager of Business Accounts in 1987. During retirement, she and Ron actively pursued their joint passion for antiques, participating for many years as dealers at Antique Shows throughout Alberta, where they developed a large community of friends and acquaintances. Clara also enjoyed traveling with Ron but was just as happy to be at home where they enjoyed beautifying their yard and garden together, visiting with neighbours and friends. Clara and Ron met while curling at the Winter Club, and she continued to be active at the Club for many years. In her life, she taught Sunday school, led Girl Guide groups, cared for her unwell Mother, and gave of herself with great generosity to all her friends and family. She will be remembered as a person who loved and encouraged others. She lived cheerfully and shared her smile and sense of humour with everyone. Clara will be greatly missed, and always loved by those who knew her.
