Obituary of FUSCO – Luisa

May 30, 1924 – January 23, 2011 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt Luisa Fusco on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Luisa was born on May 30, 1924 in Monteforte Irpino, Avellino, Italy into a family of seven siblings. In 1966 she followed her sister Maria and immigrated to Canada. Luisa had one great love in her life – her work. She was a light-hearted woman who loved to sing and tell stories from her youth. She told us all, many times, that her many nieces and nephews kept her young at heart. Luisa was a woman of great spirit and humour who always saw the positive in life. She is survived by brother Angelo Fusco of Milano, Italy; sister Maria Fusco Lombardo of Calgary; and nieces and nephews throughout Italy; her sister-in-law Filomena Valentino Fusco of Portici, Italy; niece Emilia Lombardo (Mark Nakajima); nephews, Antonio Lombardo, Antonio (Mery) and Luigi (Joyce) De Somma, all of Calgary; and grand nieces and grand nephew, Nicola and Aidan Lombardo, Emilia, Silvia, Elisea and Maria Giovanna De Somma, all of Calgary. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Giovanni Fusco and Silvestra Barone Fusco; two sisters, Carmela Fusco De Sapio and Emilia Fusco De Somma; and two brothers, Giuseppe Fusco and Carmine Fusco. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
