Obituary of MYTROEN – Harold Edmond

August 31, 1917 – January 22, 2011 Harold Mytroen passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Myrtle. Harold is survived by three sons; Moray (Christine), Hal (Diane), Carsten (Laura Lee), and two daughters; Carrie (Curt) Haynes and Lauraine Laudel, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold was born in Congress, Saskatchewan. As a youth, Harold enjoyed teen dances at country schools, and played community baseball. He entered the R.C.A.F. in 1942 as a Wireless Operator. He married Myrtle in July, 1945. Following his honorary discharge from the R.C.A.F., Harold managed the Co-op Store in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, followed by service with the Saskatchewan Civil Service and Public Health Departments. In 1969 Harold and family moved to Calgary where he became administrator at the Bethany Care Centre. He held this position for fourteen years before retiring in 1983, completing thirty five years of service in the health field. While in Calgary, Harold and Myrtle joined Christ Lutheran Church where they enjoyed many years of fellowship. Harold served on church council and organized men’s activities. Harold will be remembered for his gentle words of wisdom and his love of jokes. Please join us in celebrating Harold’s life.
