Obituary of Robert James MARTIN
August 13, 1974 – January 21, 2011
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert James Martin sadly announce the unexpected passing of a loving husband, father, brother and son, on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the age of 36 years.
Robert will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his loving wife Charlene; their children, Ryan James and Addison Marie-Grae; parents Richard and Moyra Martin; brothers, Jeffrey and Gregory (Laura-Lee) Martin; grandmothers, Norma Galvin and Margaret Holtman; in-laws, Joseph and Constance Cena and brother-in-law Christopher Cena; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who touched his life. Robert James was predeceased by his younger brother Trevor Ashley Martin.
Robert followed in his father’s footsteps and chose the telecommunication industry as his life’s work. He was with TELUS for sixteen and one-half years and, at 26, was one of the youngest appointed Directors of Business Solutions. He was looking forward to pursuing his latest opportunity in his field. Rob had an endless list of interests and passions but Charlene, Ryan and Addison were always at the top of his list.
Rob loved a challenge and he met each day with that sense of challenge, whether it was a family camping trip, snowboarding, a golf game, war history, or rocketry with Ryan and Addison. He loved a game of chance, fine wine, black hats, and a good debate on the social justice system. This extraordinary man followed his own path. He was strong, proud, intense and analytical, placing high expectations upon himself and those around him. All the while, Robert was deep, thoughtful, loving and generous, a man who treasured his family and friends.
