Obituary of REITH – Joseph John Ewart
October 13, 1934 – January 20, 2011
With deep sorrow, the family of Joseph Reith of Calgary, announces his passing on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the age of 76 years.
Joseph was born on October 13, 1934 in Sibbald, Alberta. He moved to Calgary and started with CPR Express and Transport when he was 18. He met Ellen-May while delivering parcels, and they were married on October 10, 1959. Their son Joseph Ernest was born in 1964.
Joseph retired at 55, and shortly after started with City Wide Buster’s Towing in their Sales and PR Department, and was in charge of their heavy hauls division until retiring in 2008. Joseph was extremely proud of his grandson Joshua Joseph Reith, who was born on February 3 1988, and granddaughter Vanessa Rae Reith, born on November 6 1989. He was very involved with Calgary Minor Hockey for several decades as a coach and volunteer. He ran many tournaments for all age groups.
Joseph will be remembered as a loving husband to Ellen-May, who predeceased him in 1997, and as a devoted father to son Joseph and grandfather to Joshua and Vanessa. He is also survived by his brother Bill Reith.
