Obituary of Victor Charles BOWDITCH

April 18, 1918 – January 18, 2011 Victor Charles Bowditch passed away at Clifton Manor (formerly Forest Grove Care Center) Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at age 92. Vic grew up in Success, Saskatchewan with his brothers Roland and John and sisters Noreen, Sheila, Audrey and Irene. He proudly served in WWII for four years in the VIII RECCE Regiment. Upon his return from the war he went to Winnipeg to learn the trade of watch making and then opened a jewellery store in Leader, SK where he met his wife of 61 years, Sylvia Palynchuk. They moved to Calgary in 1949 and raised two children, Doreen and Ken. Vic worked long hours at the trade that he loved and at one time did repair work for 18 jewellery stores in Calgary. Vic retired from watch making at age 78 because “his hands were starting to shake”. Vic and Sylvia loved camping with friends and family and Little Bow Provincial Park was a place of many happy memories including water skiing, campfires, sing-a-longs, and a little Calona Royal Red. He leaves his loving wife Sylvia and family: his daughter and husband Doreen and Barry Scott of Calgary, Son Ken Bowditch of Calgary: five grandchildren, Todd, Dean and Chad Scott of Calgary, AB, and Ashley (Bryan) and Heather (Cam) Bowditch of Airdrie, AB; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Scott and Kyran and Hayden Berard; two sisters, Irene (Bert) Terlson of Calgary and Noreen Caswell of Swift Current, SK; also many nieces and nephews.
