Obituary of HUNTER – Sadie Eileen

May 15, 1916 – January 16, 2011 Sadie Eileen Hunter of Calgary passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the age of 94 years. Sadie was born in Brookdale, MB and was raised on her parent’s farm near there. She received her education at the Brookdale Consolidated School. As a young adult, Sadie worked at various jobs during the 1930’s. In 1939, she moved to Battleford, SK where she worked at the Post Office for seven and a half years. She then began working at the Bank of Montreal, later transferring to Calgary then to Montreal as administration supervisor. Following retirement, Sadie returned to Calgary where she has resided ever since. She had volunteered at Heritage Park and Meals on Wheels. Sadie enjoyed time spent with family and friends, travelling extensively, golfing and knitting. Sadie will be remembered and sadly missed by her sister Irene Shepherd; nieces and nephews, Diane (Gerald) Paddock of Millett, AB, Hazel (Frank) Benson of Lloydminster, AB, Jim (Elsie) Hunter of Tappen, BC, Garry (Darlene) Hunter of Kelowna, BC, Gloria (Lorne) Greenwood of Kenora, ON, Elva (Glen) Wales of Nassua, Bahamas, Grant Hunter of Mackenzie, BC, Darryl (Jeannette) Shepherd of Candle Lake, SK; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Jane and James Clifford Hunter; brothers, Homer and Clifford Hunter; brother-in-law George Shepherd; and niece Beverly Paddock.
