Obituary of POUCETTE – Eldred Davis Gervase

January 27, 1959 – January 13, 2011 It is with profound heartache and sorrow that we announce Eldred has gone home to be reunited with the Creator, his mother Verda Abraham, and his beloved great-grandmother Jenny Poucette (Chee Zin) who raised him. Davis was a kind, humble man with a sense of humour, always making people laugh with his humorous stories and joking around. He made friends easily. Davis was born in Calgary and was raised at Morley, AB and educated at Morley Community School. He believed in and respected the Nakoda traditional teachings and spirituality. In his younger years he was a fancy dancer and travelled the pow-wow circuit with his Aunt Dora’s family. Eldred was most proud of his achievements as an AAA hockey player; and as a baseball player for his team, the Smoke Signals, who held the championship for three years. He was also passionate about golf. The family would like to thank the Foothills Medical Centre, ICU doctors, especially Dr. A. Kirkpatrick, and staff for their gallant efforts to save Eldred’s life. Left to mourn Davis are his common-law wife of thirteen years Diane Ear; son Eugene; adopted son Dernell; daughters, Tonya (Harvey), Sheena (Tom), Beverley (Lyle), and Kim; step-children, Jay, Jerika (Melissa), Alex (Jennessa); and seventeen grandchildren; sisters, Rayline (Ted), Joline (Brian), Jolanda, Michelle (Floyd), Lyndsey (Jason), Eldrina (Clinton), and Vivian (Peter); special sisters, Linda (Mervin) and Terry (Kim) with whom he was raised by Chee-Zin. He is also survived by his brothers, Vincent (Aggy), Harry (Arlivia), Marvin, Leo, Larry, Ken, and Sandford; close aunties, Tina, Dora (Clarence), Virginia, Evelyn (Jeff); uncles, Tyrone (Verna), Clint (Cynthia); grandmothers, Christine and Margaret; step-father Joe; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends – too numerous to list. He was predeceased by great-grandmother Jenny; grandfathers, Noah and Felix; grandmothers, Cora and Annie; his mother Verda (2008) and father Ken (1999); and numerous others. The family apologizes if we have missed anyone. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Diane Ear (Morley, AB) on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at Morley United Church (Morley, AB) on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).
