Obituary of HESP – David Forest Robert

February 13, 1922 – January 13, 2011 David Forest Robert Hesp of Calgary, passed away at the Southwood Hospice on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the age of 88 years. David was born in Strathmore, Alberta and at the age of one year, moved to Throne where he grew up and received his schooling. He was in the Navy during WW II and then returned to Alliance where he farmed. He then moved to Sooke, BC for a short time an then back to the Prairies that he loved. David worked on many ranches and farms and always enjoyed the cowboy life, his horses, rodeos, and the great outdoors. He also worked for several years as an ironworker. David then farmed in Westerose from 1976 to 2001. He moved to Calgary in 2002 and spent his last years at Harris House. David is survived by his daughters, Dona Scheible (Roger Johnson), Linda (Russell) McKenzie, and Lorna (Ed) Uhl; brother Stanley; sister Beverly Donato; stepchildren, Brenda (Terry) Kilborn, Foss (Shawna) Irwin, and Glenda Irwin; grandchildren, Raylene (Scott) Flegel, Troy Scheible (Anissa), Ryan (Jodie) Labrie, Erin McKenzie, Donald (Heather) McKenzie, Clint and Clayton Kilborn, Chad (Jennifer) Irwin, Preston (Pauline) Irwin, and Martia Irwin; and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; his first wife Muriel Delahunt; and caregiver Sonya York. David was predeceased by wife Dorothy; parents Forest and Nellie Hesp; brothers, John, Kenneth, Harry, and Wesley; sisters, Violet, Emily, Estelle, Nelda, and Helen; and son-in-law Mervin Scheible. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
