Obituary of WITT – Vera Beatrice
June 5, 1917 – January 3, 2011
Vera Beatrice Witt of Calgary passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011 at the age of 93 years.
Born in Calgary on June 5, 1917 during the First World War, Vera moved in 1928 with her parents and four siblings to Inglewood, the neighbourhood she called home for the next 80 years. Vera was also an avid reader, collector and card-player, and she always did love a good sale. She also loved her high-heeled shoes and visiting Banff with her friends and family. She will be remembered for her baking, sewing, knitting, and above all, her sense of humour.
Vera was the loving mother/mother-in-law of Lynne and Dave Kinniburgh, Ron and Ruth Witt and Terry and April Witt; the proud grandma (Nana) of nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Vera was also blessed with the deep friendships of her beloved brother Billy Irving; Maureen Williams-Witt; Ron (Bradley) Madge; and her friends and neighbours on 15th Street. Vera was predeceased by her husband George Witt in 1987; her sisters Isabel and Agnes; and her brother David.
