Obituary of PEACOCK – Margaret

December 6, 1933 – December 18, 2010 Peacock, Margaret Methven (nee Johnstone), RN (1956), BSc (1998), passed peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, December 18th, 2010 with family by her side. Born in Toronto to Scottish parents, Margaret was proud and determined, with a kind heart, keen intellect and an adventurous spirit. Her interests and achievements were many and varied. Margaret was a Registered Nurse, graduating from Toronto Western Hospital’s Atkinson School of Nursing in 1956. The 1960s brought a career change – motherhood – and she was the best! She loved music and painting, a good “cuppa” and nature – especially the winds whispering through the pines. She travelled to Europe, the Middle East and China and bravely camped across Canada and back with 3 young children. Her life-long interest in the past led her back to school and she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Archaeology from the University of Calgary at the age of 65. Margaret was a loving mother and doting grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Rest peacefully, we will remember you always. We love you INFINITY! Left to celebrate her life and hold dear her memory are her three children; Sandra (Jean-Claude Schweizer) of Vernon, BC; Diane, of Calgary, AB; and Douglas (Amanda) of Weyakwin, SK; her four granddaughters, Elyse, Emma, Kayla and Jordanna Peacock; and her former husband, Jim Peacock (Denny Beeman) of Courtenay, BC. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, James and Catherine Johnstone, and her siblings; Wallace, John and Catherine Johnstone, all of Toronto, ONT. Those wishing to pay their respects prior to the service may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
