Obituary of ROOP – Michael Ross

June 8, 1927 – December 17, 2010 Michael passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 17, 2010 after a brief illness. Michael was predeceased by his loving wife Muriel in 2002, and was cherished father to Debbie Hunt (Brian), Jo-Ann Horan (Larry) and Susan Grimshaw, (Grant), and brother to JoAnn Foster (Dutch Franks). Michael took great pleasure in the lives and accomplishments of his grandchildren, Sean, Trevor, and Brett Hunt, and Jennifer, Philip, and Kevin Horan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Michael was born in Hanna, AB. After graduating from UBC he returned to Calgary to raise his family and pursue his remarkable career as a geologist in the oil and gas industry. He had a great love of the outdoors, hunting, skiing, and a lifelong passion for fly-fishing. His last cast was in November, 2010. Michael will be best remembered for his simple approach to life; his loyalty, generosity and love of family.
