Obituary of SCHREIBER – Victoria Vicky
March 15, 1929 – December 15, 2010
Victoria Schreiber, beloved wife of Leo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the age of 81 years.
Victoria was born March 15, 1929 in Daysland, AB, the second of eleven children born to Edward and Katie Zak (Hamula). Victoria grew up on the farm and travelled to the big city of Calgary where she met Leo. They were married on May 15, 1951. She was a loving mother who kept close ties with all her brothers and sisters while moving around Canada with her children and husband who was in the RCAF. After Leo retired, the family moved back to Calgary. Victoria was a gifted gardener and created many spectacular flower beds. She loved to bake, cook and can and it was impossible to escape her kitchen without being well fed. Her hospitality was legendary. Victoria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Vicky was loved by all who met her and will be sadly missed..
Victoria is survived by her husband Leo; her children Shirley, Vernon (Angela), Ron (Maureen) and Darrell (Jodi); her grandchildren, Kelvin, Melvin, Veronica (Tim), Bryan, Sara (Sylvain), Colleen (David), Simon (Laura), Aaron, Peter (Hailey), Joseph, Molly, Teresa, Camila, and Emma; and her great-grandchildren, Redmond, Zarya, Wayne, Quinn, and Hank. She is also survived by her sisters Rose, Josie and Patsy; her brothers Pete, Louis, Alben, and Lawrence; and by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Stanley; and her sister Frances.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Mark Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.) on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.) on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
