Obituary of ENS – June Gladys

June 17, 1929 – December 11, 2010 June Ens, 81, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2010. The youngest daughter of Earl and Kathleen Vanstrum, June was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She worked as an accountant in Prince Albert and Regina before marrying Edwin Ens in 1960 and settling in Calgary in 1964. In the mid-70’s, she began a new career in Micrographics with Dome Petroleum and Peace Pipeline, and served as chapter president of the Canadian Image and Information Management Society (CIIMS). After retiring at the age of 69, she remained actively involved with her condominium board and continued to handle their books until this past May. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Randy Cousins (Pat Fonstad), Kathleen de Silva (Lal), Millie Pantik, and Laura Walton (Peter); grandchildren Cara (Mike), Geneva (Dean), Kent, Evan, Garret, Ava, Carmen, Matthew, Lukas, Tomas, Aaron and Ian; great-grandchildren Connor and Myla; and sisters Aileen Shiells and Helen Middleton. She was predeceased by her brother David Cook, her former husband Edwin Ens and her granddaughter Faith. June loved company and laughter. She was a Flames fan even when it was exasperating. She loved playing games of all types, especially cribbage and other card games and had the world’s longest run of beginner’s luck. She was a patient, supportive listener with a quick, sly sense of humour and was a cherished companion to all who knew her.
