Obituary of MOGRIDGE – William Patterson

May 24, 1924 – December 11, 2010 William Patterson Mogridge passed away at the Wentworth Manor in Calgary on Saturday, December 11, 2010 surrounded by family. Bill was born in Medicine Hat on May, 24 1924. He started with the CPR as a messenger boy at the age of 16 then later became a telegraph operator. During WWII, he served in the Air Force in Claresholm and following the war he rejoined the CPR to continue with his 49 year career, retiring in Calgary as a Wire Chief. Bill was a lifetime member of Legion No. 1 in Calgary serving for a time on the executive, a member of the Shriners, past President of the Kinsmen and K40, an Elder in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, and chairman of the Calgary Stampede Western Art Committee. Bill leaves to mourn his loving wife Elizabeth of 67 years, his children, Robert (Donna), Margaret (Herb), Frank (Laurette) and Laurie (Gareth). He also leaves five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, two nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by his father, Wren, mother Isabel and sister, Margaret (Cocks), all of Medicine Hat. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Forward condolences through, www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
