Obituary of BREUER – Harold Alvin

January 23, 1924 – December 7, 2010 BREUER, Harold Alvin, of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital, Tuesday December 7, 2010 at the age of 86. It is with profound sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of our dear loved one. We will miss the brother who as a child enjoyed teasing his siblings with jokes and pranks. The husband who navigated the world alongside his wife of sixty one years, together traveling the globe but always knowing there was no place like home. The husband who spent his later years enjoying his yard, his family and his volunteer work with the Food Bank. We will miss the father who rode on the back of our toboggans to keep us safe, camped with us at Yellowstone, and who took us on numerous adventures; the father who we could call at anytime as he was our go to guy, Jack of all Trades. And sadly we will miss the Grandfather/Great Grandfather who cherished his grandchildren. He was lovingly supportive at sporting events, school functions, graduations, and weddings. Today our hearts are filled with sadness for the loss of a man who meant so much to so many. Harold was born January 23, 1924, in Fife Lake, Saskatchewan to George William and Christina Florence Breuer. He was one of eleven children. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of sixty one years, Margaret, eleven children and their respective spouses, twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and his two surviving sisters, Marjorie Harkness and Gladys Sanderson. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers and six sisters. A Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held at The Greater Forest Lawn Seniors Centre, (3425 – 26 Ave SE Calgary) on Friday, December 10th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at the Verwood Cemetery in Saskatchewan.
