Obituary of TANSOWNY – Andrew Alexander

March 29, 1931 – November 25, 2010 After a six-month battle with cancer, Andrew Alexander Tansowny died peacefully and with dignity on November 25, 2010. Andy was born on March 29, 1931 in Westlock, AB, the 4th child of six to Annie and John Tansowny. He left the farm at the age of fifteen to go out and earn a living. In 1956 he met Linda Kendel and they were married on November 23, 1957. Their daughters, Lorrie and Teri were born in Barrhead, AB before the couple moved to Slave Lake, AB to begin their first small business. Andy sold real estate successfully in Edmonton for almost a year until realizing his family time was more important. In 1970 the family moved on to Stettler, AB and the new opportunity of a hardware and eventually a furniture and appliance store. Andy and Linda retired in 1982 and spent the rest of their winters traveling and enjoying the sun in Apache Junction, AZ. A master of all trades, Andy put his mind to many tasks and did them all well. He was always ready to help anyone. Andy is sadly missed by his wife Linda; daughters, Lorrie and Teri and their men, Lee Smith and Darrell Torris; as well as his grandchildren, Dani Myhre, Riley Smith, Taryn Myhre, and Ashton Smith. Andy was predeceased by his parents and a sister Hazel Wichinski and is survived by three brothers and a sister; Fred Tansowny (Joan), Walter Tansowny, Bill Tansowny, and Cecile Lorentz as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
