Obituary of HORN – Dora

November 13, 1929 – November 24, 2010 Dora Horn of Calgary, passed away suddenly in the morning on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the age of 81 years. She was born Dora Martens in Rosthern, SK, where she grew up. She lived in Saskatoon for a number of years until her first husband passed away. She moved to Calgary and married Keith Horn in 1966. Family and friends were very important to Dora and she took special interest and pleasure in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dora loved her work and cherished the many friends she met throughout her various careers. She worked at Canada Post for many years and retired in 1993. She then started a new career in retail, working for the Saddledome, Bowrings and Shopper’s until she was 78 years old. Dora is survived by her children, Darlene Horn of Edmonton, AB, Robert Horn of Sooke, BC, Greg (Sandy) Kinzel of Calgary, AB, James Horn of Calgary, AB, Grant Kinzel of Calgary, AB, Maryann (Ken) Thrower of Calgary, AB; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as by her two sisters Hilda (John) Epp of Melfort, SK and Louise (Frank) Dyck of Winnipeg, MB. She was predeceased by her first husband Stanley Kinzel; second husband Keith Horn; brothers David Martens and Edward Martens; son Scott Kinzel; and grandson Pvt. Chad Horn. A Celebration of Dora’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
