Obituary of BERTI – Ermenegilda

September 25, 1924 – November 21, 2010 Ermes Berti of Calgary, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the age of 86 years. Ermes was born in the town of Paese, Italy. She immigrated in 1955 to Canada and settled in Calgary with her husband Angelo. They started their life together, raising their family of three children. After retirement they enjoyed their trips to Puerto Vallarta and other sunny destinations. They also enjoyed their road trips, fishing and camping in their Boler. Her most precious time was spent being a “Nonna” and making risotto for her grandchildren. Most recently she became a “Bis-Nonna” to baby Mary. Ermes is survived by her three children, Maria (Ken) Mislan, John (Rose) Berti, and Luciano Berti; and her four grandchildren, Teresa (Andrew) Waddington, Paul Mislan, Laura Mislan, and Leah Berti; and her great granddaughter Mary Waddington. She is the last of her eight Cancian siblings. Ermes was predeceased by her husband Angelo in 1999. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
