Obituary of FONTANA – Nardino

September 7, 1947 – November 20, 2010 Nardino Fontana, beloved husband of Ida Fontana of Calgary, passed away following a short battle with lung cancer, on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the age of 63 years. Nardino was born in Sezze, Latina, Italy, and immigrated to Canada in September, 1967. Nardino married Ida Spoletini on June 21, 1969, and raised three children. His passion was the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. Nardino always welcomed the company of his family and friends and gathering with his friends at the San Remos Social Club. Nardino treasured every moment he could spend with his children and grandchildren. Nardino is survived by his loving wife Ida; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernesto and Jennifer Fontana, and John and Gina Fontana; daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Darren Carlson; five grandchildren, Dominic Fontana, Anthony Fontana, Marcello Fontana, Gabriella Fontana, and Keira Carlson; brother and sister-in-law, Angelo and Franca Fontana; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Sante Morellato; step brother Antonio Fontana; father-in-law Tony Spoletini; brother-in-law Giovanni (Aurora) Spoletini; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nardino was predeceased by his father Ernesto; his mother Annunziata; step brother Guiseppe Fontana; cousin Ubaldo Fontana; mother-in-law Giovannina Spoletini; nephew Guiseppe Spoletini; and compare and best friend Mario Novello. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
