Obituary of WATSON – Olga

July 19, 1919 – November 19, 2010 Olga Watson (nee Stefanik), beloved wife of Lawrence (Larry) Watson, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010 with family by her side. Olga was born in Chicago, Illinois, then grew up in Czechoslovakia and on a homestead north of Edmonton. At a young age she left home to work. In 1939 Olga enlisted in the c.w.a.c. (Canadian Women’s Army Corps) and was stationed in Europe. Larry and Olga met in Calgary, married in 1950 and lived here ever since. Olga is also survived by her children, Sandra (Wayne) Bateman, Ron Watson and Kevin (Karen) Watson; her beloved grandsons, Robert Bateman, Eric and Kyle Watson; her sisters and brother and many other relatives. She will be dearly missed as well as remembered for her generosity, unerring common sense and the wonderful meals she prepared. With her usual tenacity, Olga planted her flowers and vegetable garden this past spring and helped harvest it in the fall, at the age of 91. Funeral Services will be held at Wild Rose United Church (1317 – 1 Street N.W.) on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through .
