Obituary of JANSEN – Johanna

January 30, 1920 – November 15, 2010 Johanna Jansen passed away November 15, 2010 with her twin daughters, Joanne and Wanda, and daughters, Alicia and Etty at her side. Johanna was born in Monarch, AB and when her mother died three weeks after her and her twin sister’s birth, she went to live in the home of her newly married cousin Gertie and John Hofman. She was the eldest of twelve children in that large, loving family. She married Henry Jansen in 1944 and moved to their farm in 1946 where she resided for sixty two years. Johanna lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren were sources of great pride and happiness to her. Johanna did all things with grace and dignity. Johanna and Henry enjoyed a full, active life, square dancing, travelling extensively and attending many social events. Johanna is lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law Joanne (John) Fenton, Wanda (Allan) Sammons, Alicia (Bob) Brooks and Etty Jansen; her beloved grandchildren Kim Coates (Norm), Kevin (Sarah) Sammons, Kari (Trent) Brooks-Martin, Stephanie (Ryan) Ayliffe, Jason (Joanne) Fenton, Jonelle (Anthony) Fenton, Jaymes (Krista) Fenton; her much loved great grandchildren Rachel Brooks-Kane, Kelsea, Russel, Kendra and Rowan Brooks-Martin, Alicia and Cade Ayliffe, Bailee Fenton, Lee and Brooke Coates, and twins Ryker and Kenley Sammons. Johanna is also survived by her sisters Thelma Nienhuis, Janette Van Egmond, Hilgonda Harbers, Nellie Plomp, Gertie Stetar and Marj Salvucci; brothers Ralph and Dick Hofman. Johanna was predeceased by her husband in 2005, her identical twin sister Christina Van Den Broeke in 1992, sisters Hendrika Veldhuis, Riki Warmink, Renie and Gertie Goldenbeld, brothers Ernie and John Hofman, and Albert and Henry Goldenbeld. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff at the Didsbury Hospital and the Didsbury Long Term Care, Unit 4, for the excellent care given to our mother for the last one and a half years.
