Obituary of FOORD – Elmer George

February 2, 1933 – November 12, 2010 It is with much sorrow that we announce Elmer’s passing at the Foothill’s Hospital. He left this world onto his next journey with his devoted family members at his side, holding his hand. We loved him dearly and will miss him terribly. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Charlotte, and children Tracey (Ken), Jim, Parker (Kelly) and Maureen (Dan). Elmer took great pride and delight in his grandchildren, Caitlin, Shannah, Jackson, Taryn, Jade, and Ayden. He also leaves behind his Sister June, and Brothers Tom (Norah), Sidney (Rose), Ian (Shirley), Ron (Bev) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Vern and Vern’s wife Benne and June’s husband Lou Ladwig. Elmer was truly rich with friendships, having developed many strong and long lasting friends throughout his life. He had a genuine interest in people and seemingly remembered everyone he ever met by name. His passions in life involved being with people, whether it be golfing, curling, playing cards, or just socializing. He loved music and spent countless hours listening to and adding to his collection. He was very active in several organizations including the Calgary Elks, the Masonic Lodge and Shrine, and the Association of Canadian Travelers. Friends are invited to join us in a celebration of Elmer’s life on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Calgary Elks Club, (2502 – 6 street N.E. from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.), and are encouraged to bring their memories and stories to share. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Elmer Foord, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
