Obituary of SHARP – Douglas Donald

October 7, 1949 – November 10, 2010 With sad hearts we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Donald Sharp on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the age of 61. Doug was born in Vancouver, BC on October 7, 1949 to Jim and May Sharp. Doug started his life in Vancouver, then Munson, AB, Carbon AB and finally settled in Calgary in 1969. Doug received his Architect Draftsman Diploma from SAIT in 1970. He was the Owner/Editor of Western Digest magazine, a member of Western Writers of America and was on the Selection Panel for the Best Westerns of the 20th Century. Doug enjoyed family gatherings, attending the Annual Western Writers Conventions, reading and traveling to research his next story. Doug retired from Cash Casino, Calgary in June 2010 and was enjoying his retirement while continuing with his passion for writing. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Jack (Cheryl) Sharp of Abbotsford, B.C, David (Joyce) Sharp of Calgary, and Glen Sharp of Calgary; and sisters, Phyllis (Lee) Baldwin of Coaldale, AB and Sylvia (John) Coffin of Calgary; twelve nieces and nephews; and eight great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jim Sharp in 1988 and May Sharp in 2009. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
