Obituary of LOCKE – Clayton Everett
January 19, 1922 – November 10, 2010
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved father Clayton Everett Locke, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the age of 88 years.
Clayton was born in Cookshire, Quebec, the eldest of five children, growing up on a farm. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted with the Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas during WWII for four years. On June 6, 1944 he fought on the beaches of Normandy, France. He returned to Canada in 1945, moving to Calgary in 1948 where he met and married Joan Curliss and raised a family of six. He enjoyed a career with Honeywell for twenty-five years as a Residential Sales Manager retiring at the age of sixty. He was a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ogden Branch #154. One of his many passions was spending time on his property at Buck Lake, Alberta where he enjoyed fishing, boating, campfires and hosting family and friends. Many good times were shared with lots of love and laughter. Clayton was passionate about golf and curling. He will be remembered for his integrity and resourcefulness, and for being a role model for co-workers, friends and family. He loved the companion and friendship of dogs.
Clayton is survived and lovingly remembered by his six children, Kathleen (Jack) Johnson, Judy Locke, Wendy (Brian) Portfors, Patty (Martin) Davidson, Warren Locke (MaryAnn) and Robert (Lesley) Locke; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; niece Dana Courtright; and sisters, June and Eileen.
