McCOMB – John (Jack) November 26, 1922 – November 7, 2010 John (Jack) McComb passed away peacefully at Rockyview General Hospital Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Jack was a native Calgarian who took pride in Calgary’s history. He completed the SAIT drafting program and travelled to Norman Wells, N.W.T. to begin his career in the oil industry. His career at Husky Oil extended from 1948-1986. World travel was important to Jack throughout his life. His many adventures covered the globe. Jack’s true passion was motorcycles. He participated in the Calgary Motorcycle Club, taking international trips and competing in hill-climbs. He continued to ride until his early eighties. Jack was known as a generous gentleman who took great pride in his garden, enjoyed politics, photography, travel and was the guardian of the family history. Family is grateful for his safeguarding this legacy. Jack was a life-long learner, always interested in the latest invention or gadget. Garrison Green Seniors Community was Jack’s last home. He was very proud to say he was the first resident in the newly opened facility. He will be missed by his friends who joined him for his four o’clock latte. Jack was pre-deceased by his loving parents, John Sr. and Ethel McComb. He is survived by family in Canada and the United States. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Union Cemetery.
