Condolences
Leilani was my friend.
She enriched my life beyond compare.
She was both brilliant, and beautiful.
I just found out about her passing.
I wept…
It was only just today that I learned of Leilani’s passing. My sincere condolences to Jim, Elizabeth, Hudson & Patty, plus all others in Leilani’s extended family and friends. Even today her warmth and gentle nature still touch me, even after I have not spoken with her for quite some time. Rest In Peace Leilani.
Hudson and family, I am deeply saddened to have just learned of Leilani’s passing. She was a gracious and gentle spirit, and always had a ready smile for her little brother’s pesky friends. I can not even begin to imagine the impact of your loss. From my extended family to you and yours, please know you are being held with great care in our thoughts and hearts.
Dear Jim and Elizabeth,
I had the extreme pleasure of working with both Leilani and Jim at the Calgary Convention Centre. She was the sweetest, most thoughtful person and I have many wonderful memories. I remember us being so shocked when she found out my name was Murdena as I always went by Dena. It was my mother’s name and her mother’s name and we were totally blown away as it’s not that common. We had a really good laugh over it. I too will always remember her beautiful spirit and smile. My heartfelt sympathies to you both. It was my privlege to have known her.
Marianne Campbell told me about your loss of Leilani on Dec 26 – remembering her with fondness and love. Hoping your best memories helped you through the season.
Dear Hudson and Family,
I was so saddened to learn last evening of Leilani’s passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I fondly remember the times we shared in our teens and as young adults – she had such a presence and flair, even then, and I was always in admiration of her.
Blessings,
Destanne Norris

I was so sorry to hear of Leilani’s passing. I worked with Leilani at the CIBC in Salmon Arm back in 1980, she trained me. We had some very good times together, she was definitely a special person, well liked by all. Clients would often ask for the “hawaiian” girl because of her name. Remember the good times that you had with her, I know I will.
May she rest in peace.
My sincere sympathies in the loss of dear Leilani. She was a lovely lady and she will be missed. May it help you to know that knowing her as a young person was a pleasure. I also was a nurse friend to her dear mother.
With caring thoughts,
Isabel Kyles

My most sincere thoughts are with you at this time of loss. It is always difficult to lose a family member.
Take time to grieve but also reflect on the joys you had together.

Hudson:
Thinking of you since Monday. Sorry to hear of Leilani”s passing. I knew her name and wondered if I had ever met her; and while it was only briefly, I was reminded when I saw her photo and that great smile. God bless you and all those close. Remembrance Day will be changed for us.

On behalf of the Commanding Officer and Sergeant Major of 741 (Victoria) Communication Squadron, I offer you our heartfelt condolences. Please know how much your sister was loved and how deeply your loss is felt by all. You and your extended family are in our thoughts.
Dear Jim and family, I was deeply saddened to read of Leilani’s passing, it has been many years since we “hung out” but time will not diminish the fun we had nor the friendship we shared. Leleini was lovely, generous and full of life despite her health issues, she will be missed. With sympathy, Lynne (Shaw-MacLaren) McCartney,Salmon Arm, B.C.
You do not know me but I worked at CFAC from 1952 to 1956, a new graduate from University eager to be in broadcasting. I started as a copy writer then went one to have my own program, ‘It’s A Woman’s World’. Leilani’s father, Clarence, the popular voice of ‘Toast and Marmalade’, had faith in me and let me play many parts in CBC plays and his weekly news recaps. Clarence and beautiful Murdena were so proud of their growing family who often visited the station. I only saw Leilani once..another beauty like her mother nestled in her father’s arms. I am writing this so that Elizabeth would know that many people she does not know remember her family with love and share her loss.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Nowlin Donoghue
Jim and Elizabeth,
I worked at the Convention Centre many years ago. (I have a sweater just like the one in the picture) Leilani was kind to everyone and she had that special gift of making people feel at ease. I hope your fondest memories will get you through the days ahead. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
Sincerely,
Trish Masciola
It was with great sadness that I learned of Leilani’s death. I will always remember Leilani for the exceptional person she was: kind, generous, funny, graceful, and smart. She was, in every way, a beautiful woman. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies to Jim, Elizabeth, Hudson, Patty and extended family for your loss.
Jim and Family, my sincere sympathies for your loss of Leilani. Trusting there truly are angels among us, she has no doubt been welcomed by them.
