Condolences
We’ve lost a great guy and a great friend and, of course, those closest to him feel the greatest loss of all. Cisca and I send heartfelt condolences to Lorraine and the family – our sincere thoughts are with you.
I first met Jim thirty years ago at Consolidated Concrete where he was variously my boss and a colleague but quickly became a mentor and friend. Even though my time in Calgary was relatively short and my visits infrequent, I have many great memories of hiking and cross-country skiing with Jim (and Lorraine) and of shared dinners and the essential glass or two of wine afterward. During those times there were always stories and conversations which were liberally peppered with Jim’s great sense of humor and zest for life. That humor and love of life stayed with him even during the most difficult parts of his illness and our phone calls over the last year or so were always times of easy conversation, laughter and enjoyment – not an ounce of self pity. Jim took life as it came at him and always made the best of it. He leaves behind a wonderful family that he loved above all else, and numerous friends and colleagues who will miss him in many different ways.
Sail on old friend.

I only had the pleasure of visiting with Jim once at the Habitat for Humanity trailer last year, but have heard countless stories recounted involving Jim and his incredible spirit and selflessness, and I feel blessed to have enjoyed our short visit together. Jim will be dearly missed by the staff and volunteers at Habitat Calgary and we send our deepest condolences to the McKendry family.

Dear Lorraine & Family,
Please know how sorry I am to hear of Jim’s passing. During the time I worked for Jim, I realized that nothing meant more to him than his family. He was an excellent boss who always took time to listen to anyone who dropped into his office.
God’s blessings on you all.

Dear Lorraine and family,
So very sorry to hear of the passing of Jim. Talked to him earlier this year and we were planning to do some cycling in Fish Creek park. How short life is and how quickly our plans have to change.
May God grant you His peace and comfort in this very difficult time. You are in our prayers.
God bless you all!

Dear Lorraine,
As part of the Okotoks Hiking Group, Denise forwarded the news of your husband’s passing. While I did not have the opportunity to met Jim,
I still wanted you to know Lorraine, that my thoughts and prayers are with.. Losing a loved one is the most trying experience in life. But please remember, you are not alone. May you find the needed peace and comfort!
Sincerely,
