Obituary of ODAGAKI – Grace Keiko

February 13, 1933 – October 13, 2010 Grace, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home at the age of 77 years surrounded by her loving family. Born in Steveston, BC, she settled in southern Alberta after being interned during the Second World War. Grace’s first career was as a registered nurse, followed by the raising of her four children and helping out with the family business in Calgary. Grace is fondly remembered by her son Craig (Paula) Odagaki and daughters, Esther Odagaki, Dawn (Wade) Robertson and Adele (Doug) Hamer. She was very supportive and involved in the activities of her grandchildren – Rebecca, Sarah, Ethan, Kylie, Jarrett, Sean, Taryn, Stephanie, and Brett. Grace is also survived by her sisters Catherine Koyanagi, June Taniguchi, Ruth (Gordie) Laurie, Pat (Art) Hironaka, Vi (Jack) Ikeda, Evie (Jack) Gibbons and brothers John (Barb) Konno and Andrew (Joan) Konno. Grace was predeceased by her husband Bunk in 2009. In her retirement she was an active member of the CJCA and the Calgary Kotobuki Society. Many thanks go to the doctors and nurses at the Tom Baker Centre and to the Calgary Home Care Palliative team. Grace’s selflessness, kindness and generosity will be forever remembered. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
