Obituary of MACGILLIVRAY – Muriel Audrey

August 8, 1935 – October 8, 2010 Muriel Audrey MacGillivray of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the age of 75 years. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Herbert MacGillivray, she is survived by her daughter, Peggy Orge (Les) of Medicine Hat and sons, Fred Penstock and Bill MacGillivray (Jean Wallace), both of Calgary. She is further survived by her brothers Lawrence Dyer (Hilda) and Bill Dyer of Calgary and Jack Dyer (Eileen) of High River, and her sister, Dorothy McFadden of Nanton, as well as her late husband’s family, Betty and Bill MacGillivray of Calgary and John MacGillivray of Edmonton. Born and raised in Calgary, Muriel was a truly kind woman who was dearly loved by her family and many friends she made throughout her life. Her sweet, gentle spirit and quiet strength were a gift to her children and those whose lives she touched and she had a great appreciation of many simple things that gave her joy. She has been particularly grateful for the many family and friends who were able to visit with her over the last months of her life. As per her wishes, no memorial services will be held, but a gathering in celebration of her life will be held at the home of Bill MacGillivray at a date to be set later. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society at www.calgaryhumane.ca. or to the Mustard Seed Street Ministry at www.theseed.ca. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Units 83 and 94 at Rockyview Hospital and Chinook Hospice for the gentle and compassionate care provided.
