Obituary of MARCHANT – Emelyn Margaret

October 5, 1924 – October 8, 2010 Emelyn (Evelyn) Margaret Marchant (nee Benum) passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2010 with her family at her side. Earlier that week, Emelyn had celebrated her eighty-six birthday. Emelyn was born on a farm in Seven Persons, AB and spent most of her married life in Cremona and Airdrie. As a young woman, she surrendered her heart to Jesus and her faith became the foundation of her life. Upon her death, members of the Southwood Nursing staff shared that when Emelyn suffered excruciating pain, they would sing together Amazing Grace and Jesus Loves Me. There is no doubt that she used the gifts granted her by God to faithfully and sacrificially serve her family and community. Our sincerest comfort is that Emelyn is now present with the Lord. Emelyn will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, especially her husband John Marchant; her sons, Gordon (Aleta) Marchant, Ken (LeeAnn) Marchant; her daughter Barbara (Roger) Gauvreau; and her six grandchildren. Funeral Services for Emelyn Marchant were held at the Grace Baptist Church (Airdrie, AB) on Thursday, October 14, 2010 with interment at Cremona Cemetery.
