Obituary of GRIMES – Edith Olive

October 25, 1921 – October 6, 2010 Edith Grimes of Cochrane, AB. passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Edith was born in Kenora, ON. She moved to Winnipeg in 1946. She worked at Woolworths in Kenora, ON. While working at Eatons in downtown Winnipeg she met Gordon who worked in the Eatons mail order catalogue building. Gordon and Edith were married in August 1954. After she was married, Edith stayed home to raise her son. Edith loved chocolate and corn on the cob. She was a very kind and thoughtful lady giving to many charities. Edith loved going for drives to enjoy the scenery. Edith moved to Calgary in January of 2006, and then to the Bethany Cochrane in April of 2007. Edith is survived by her son Edward (Ted) and daughter-in-law Joanne Anderson; nieces Sandra (Bill) Demchuk of Calgary, Joanne Harrington of Port Moody, BC, Cathy Rheault of Squamish, BC, and great nephews and nieces; also sister-in-law Rita (Lionel) Donnelly of Winnipeg, MB. Edith was predeceased by her husband Gordon, parents Frank and Emma Connett, brother Ken, sisters Phyllis and Fran and her cousin Dolly Marshall. Edith’s family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Care Center in Cochrane for the wonderful care Edith received these past three and a half years.
